RIMINIAIRPORT, new flight to BUDAPEST operated by WIZZ AIR

Tickets are available for online purchase for the flight that will connect Rimini to the Hungarian capital starting from June 8th. The CEO Corbucci: "it is the first step of a renewed and ambitious strategic partnership between the Airport and Wizz Air"

The Rimini San Marino International Airport expands its offer and strengthens its link with Wizz Air, which for the 2026 Summer season, in addition to the already confirmed flight to Tirana, will introduce a new connection with Budapest. The route, which is available for online purchase starting today (minimum fare 31.99 euros), will be operational from June 8th to October 23rd 2026, with an Airbus A321 seating 239 passengers, three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The introduction of this connection will further strengthen the connection of the area with the Hungarian market, which based on data recorded in recent years has now consolidated itself as one of the strategic tourist markets for the region. "The new flight – declares Leonardo Corbucci, CEO of AIRiminum – represents the first step of a renewed and ambitious strategic partnership between Rimini International Airport and Wizz Air. We are proud to strengthen the collaboration with one of Europe's leading airlines, which I am sure will contribute significantly to the development of our airport and the Rimini area, particularly towards the Eastern European markets, which have always been strategic for our destination. Thanks to this new route, and the schedule already available for sale, Rimini will be able to count on a connection with Budapest operating almost daily – except for Tuesday – thus offering privileged access to one of the most fascinating European capitals. A constant frequency that enriches the diversification of our product: new opportunities for leisure outbound and for business traffic are added to the traditional incoming leisure traffic, expanding the range of flows and connections. This connection fits perfectly into the important process of internationalization that the airport is conducting, with a constantly growing network of flights that reinforces Rimini's role as a privileged gateway to Italy and a strategic hub for the entire Adriatic. The increase in international connections consolidates our attractiveness, stimulates quality tourism, and concretely supports local economic development, positioning Rimini as an increasingly connected, modern, and competitive destination on the European scene". «After this year's excellent performance, with 31,397 arrivals (+12.1%) and 153,970 overnight stays (+11.2%) by Hungarian guests between January and August 2025 on the Romagna Riviera - highlights the Regional Councillor for Tourism, Sport and Trade Roberta Frisoni - connections with Hungary are intensifying even more. The definitive schedule of connections for the next season is still being defined, but the announcement of the start in 2026 of the new Rimini-Budapest air route by Wizz Air, together with the confirmations of connections with London, already allows operators to plan promotional and communication activities». Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager of the airline, focuses on Rimini's strategic nature as a destination and the importance of the growth path between AIRiminum and Wizz Air: "The launch of the Rimini–Budapest connection - he declares - significantly strengthens Emilia-Romagna's connectivity with central Europe and helps support the area's tourism dynamism. Rimini is a strategic destination not only for beach tourism, but also for its cultural heritage and for the trade fair and conference sector: offering travellers more direct access means generating value for the entire local supply chain. This connection will not only favour the arrival of new visitors, but will also offer locals of the Riviera new opportunities to discover central Europe, one of the most vibrant and culturally rich areas in Europe. Budapest, in particular, is an ideal destination for those seeking history, wellness, events, and entertainment just a few hours away by flight. The opening of the route is part of the growth path we are pursuing together with AIRiminum 2014, with the aim of expanding the offer of the “F. Fellini” airport and making it increasingly competitive and connected. We want this connection to represent a concrete opportunity for locals, businesses, and visitors, contributing to the development of the area. Let's WIZZ!"
