Rimini San Marino International Airport continues to be a key player in mobility and tourism, strengthening its ties with Germany and reinforcing connections with Italy and the United Kingdom. “This achievement confirms the solidity of our development path,” declares the CEO of Aeroporto di Rimini. Local authorities highlight the success of a “team effort among the territories, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the airport.”

Ryanair is betting on Rimini: the leading low-cost airline announces a summer 2026 filled with new routes and growth opportunities. With the addition of three new destinations — Manchester, Cologne, and Catania — the Rimini San Marino International Airport now serves over 12 destinations, consolidating its international connectivity.

The airport will be connected with Manchester twice a week (Wednesdays and Sundays) from June to October; with Cologne three times a week (Monday, Thursday, and Saturday) from June 1 to October; and with Catania three times a week (Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday) from June to October.

“We are extremely satisfied with Ryanair’s growth in Rimini for summer 2026: flights increasing from 8 to 12 weekly (+50%), with approximately 400,000 passengers expected. This result affirms the strength of our development strategy and further consolidates Ryanair as our main commercial partner and strategic pillar for the airport’s growth,” stated Leonardo Corbucci, CEO of Aeroporto di Rimini. “The introduction of Catania, Manchester, and Cologne significantly enhances our network, now exceeding 25 international destinations. Catania strengthens our domestic connection within Italy; Manchester further consolidates our strategic link with the United Kingdom; and Cologne opens the German market, creating new opportunities for the region and tourism operators. Thanks to these new connections, in 2026 we expect to surpass 600,000 passengers, positioning our airport among Italy’s fastest-growing. This achievement reflects a strong collaborative effort and further confirms Rimini’s rising attractiveness on the national and European stage. It’s a decisive step toward establishing Rimini as a key airport in the Adriatic region and a stable, competitive, and continuously expanding international platform.”

The launch of these routes, resulting from collaboration among local territories, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the airport, will support the growth of tourism along the Romagna Riviera. “The activation of flights to Cologne and Manchester marks a turning point for our tourism development,” said jointly the Mayors of Bellaria (Filippo Giorgetti), Rimini (Jamil Sadegholvaad), Riccione (Daniela Angelini), Misano (Fabrizio Piccioni), and Cattolica (Franca Foronchi). They emphasize that this achievement demonstrates once again how a “team effort among territories, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the airport can succeed,” starting from the cooperation agreement among the five coastal municipalities of the Rimini Province, which will invest €3 million annually in promotion, marketing, and communication with airline partners through Apt Servizi Emilia-Romagna.

The new routes will give the Romagna Riviera an increasingly international profile—an enhancement already proven successful during the 2025 season. Additionally, the connection with Germany reflects the priorities of local industry associations and tourism operators. Our territories, with their diverse identities and vocations—from beach vacations to cultural experiences, amusement parks, motorsports, cuisine, and inland villages and castles—constitute a unique combination capable of captivating international visitors seeking destinations beyond the familiar, offering authentic and engaging experiences. This year, the 'Fellini' Airport will serve as their gateway to experiencing all that the region has to offer.
