Tampere Airport: The Industrial Runway for Finland’s Growth

Tampere Aviation Forum 2025

Industrial competitiveness relies on smooth connections. Export companies depend on fast and reliable logistics, and regional airports play a decisive role in enabling this. Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is becoming increasingly important as spare parts logistics, air cargo, and feeder traffic integrate into international supply chains. Both people and goods must move seamlessly.

On October 1, the Tampere Aviation Forum will be held for the first time alongside Finland’s largest industrial event, the Subcontracting Fair (Alihankinta 2025). The forum will explore how aviation supports industrial growth and how Tampere-Pirkkala can strengthen its role as a logistics and feeder hub.

From Tampere to Europe – the future of aviation
What role will regional airports play in Europe’s air traffic? At the forum, Mantas Vrubliauskas (airBaltic) will outline how regional connections drive accessibility and why airBaltic is strengthening its presence in Finland.

Dr. Max Hirsh (Airport City Academy) will deliver a keynote on international trends in aviation and the opportunities they create for Tampere and Finland. He will highlight the role of regional airports for economic development, the impact of climate change and new technologies on workforce needs, and how development projects at Tampere Airport can strengthen the region.

In the afternoon, Aivars Starikovs (Hydrogen Europe) will present Europe’s hydrogen economy and new fuel solutions reshaping both passenger travel and logistics.

For companies, the smooth movement of goods and people is essential. Harri Ojala, CEO of Business Tampere, often travels by air as part of his work.

Practical solutions and case examples
Alongside the keynotes, the forum will showcase innovations in fuel and logistics. Lufthansa will present insights on SAF, while Finnish company LiquidSun introduces solar-powered synthetic fuel with the potential to transform aviation.

Panels with industry in focus
Three panel discussions will address the intersection of aviation and industry:

  • Regional Airports as Enablers of Industrial Growth (English) – How do regional airports strengthen competitiveness and supply chains?

  • Tampere Airport: An Industrial Runway for Logistics? (Finnish) – What does it take to build a fully functional logistics hub for Finnish industry?

  • Feeder Traffic 2.0 – Finland’s Domestic Air Network 2030 (Finnish) – How can the domestic network be renewed and integrated into wider travel chains?

Why attend?
Aviation is in transition – and its importance to industry is accelerating. The Tampere Aviation Forum offers insights, networking, and discussion on how smarter transport systems can support industrial growth.

The Tampere Aviation Forum takes place on October 1, alongside the Subcontracting Fair in Tampere. Join us to explore Tampere Airport’s potential as a future hub for logistics and business.
