Weather Preparedness
Typhoon season in Hong Kong typically runs from May to November, with the rainy season between April and September. Informa organises more than 25 large-scale events every year in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. As part of Informa, Routes benefits from significant experience, expertise, and contacts, operating events in the region.
Routes has implemented comprehensive safety protocols specifically designed for adverse weather conditions should they arise. Our detailed contingency plans enable us to launch an appropriate level of response, initiating pre-planned actions and reducing the potential impact on your event experience.
How are adverse weather conditions monitored?
- Tropical cyclone advisory bulletins or adverse weather warnings are issued by the Hong Kong Observatory when a tropical cyclone moves within 800km of Hong Kong.
- The Hong Kong Observatory utilises a numbering system, 1, 3, 8, 9 and 10, to signify the strength of adverse weather conditions in the vicinity of Hong Kong.
If the event were to be impacted by adverse weather conditions, how would this be communicated?
Working in close coordination with the venue management, our local hosts, and relevant government authorities, we would inform you at the earliest opportunity if adverse weather conditions were to impact the delivery of the event. These updates would be issued through:
Email Communications
The Meeting System and App
The Event Website
