WIZZ AIR ADDS TWO AIRCRAFT TO ITS BASE IN TIRANA IN SUMMER 2024

€200 MILLION INVESTMENT IN THE MARKET A TOTAL OF 13 WIZZ AIR AIRCRAFT IN ALBANIA 2 NEW ROUTES AND MORE FLIGHTS ON EXISTING ROUTES

Wizz Air, Albania’s largest airline and most environmentally sustainable airline globally1 is thrilled to announce the addition of 2 state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft to its Tirana base. The expansion allows the airline to introduce 2 new routes and frequency increases on 15 existing routes to its Albanian customers next summer. With this investment of further €200 million, the airline will have 13 aircraft stationed in Tirana by June 2024. With the largest network, serving over 50 routes spanning across 16 countries, Wizz Air is further reinforcing its position as the leading airline in Albania, offering seamless and diverse connections across Europe and beyond. 

  Starting from June 2024, Wizz Air will introduce two routes from Albania connecting Tirana to Leipzig Germany), and Valencia (Spain). At the same time, the airline will enhance its product offer increasing frequencies on existing routes from Tirana to Madrid, Barcelona (Spain), Bari, Turin, Verona, Genoa (Italy), Dortmund, Berlin, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Frankfurt-Hahn, Cologne (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Wroclaw and Poznan (Poland). This significant announcement of over 1 million additional seats per year comes as a reinforcement of Wizz Air’s commitment to growth and excellence in Albania.

Wizz Air currently employs nearly 500 crew members in Tirana, while having contributed to nearly 7000 indirect jobs2 in the industry in Albania over the last 5 years. The airline has become the choice of over 9 million passengers in Albania since start of operations in 2017, and has introduced over 30 previously unserved routes to the market.
