Introduction to Transylvania Targu Mures International Airport
R.A. Transylvania Tirgu Mures Airport provides services for a geographic area of 24,500 km2 with some 1.5 million inhabitants, mainly comprising Mures, Bistrita, Harghita and Covasna counties.
Opened in 1936 it operates on the current location, near VidrasÄu, from 1961. In 1969, the airport was modernized and a 2000 meters long concrete runway was constructed. In 1999 the airport is opened to international passengers traffic, between 1999-2005 the passenger terminal was extended with new facilities for international traffic.
