Another Record-Breaking Month at Lithuanian Airports: Passenger Numbers Up by a Tenth in August
Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) handled 777,000 passengers in August, marking the highest passenger traffic ever recorded for the month of August across Lithuania’s airport network. Compared with August 2025, passenger numbers at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports increased by nearly 10%.
Following a record-breaking July, when all three Lithuanian airports handled 756,000 passengers, LTOU maintained its growth momentum in August. A total of 5,700 flights were operated during the month, 7.3% more than in August 2025.
“August became yet another historic month for Lithuanian Airports, as we recorded record passenger traffic for the eighth consecutive month. It is particularly important that passenger and flight growth was recorded across all three airports in Lithuania,” says Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautevičė, Acting CEO of Lithuanian Airports.
The highest passenger traffic in August was recorded at Vilnius Airport, which handled nearly 570,000 passengers. This represents an 11.7% increase compared with the same period last year. Vilnius Airport also handled approximately 4,200 flights, 8.7% more than during the same period in 2025.
Kaunas Airport handled nearly 163,000 passengers in August, 4.9% more than a year earlier. More than 1,000 aircraft departures were recorded, 0.7% more than in August 2025.
Palanga Airport handled 44,000 passengers, an increase of 6.1% compared with August last year. Around 50 flights were operated at the airport, 10.3% more than in August 2025.
In August, passengers could choose from 86 scheduled destinations from Lithuanian airports: 54 from Vilnius Airport, 26 from Kaunas Airport and 6 from Palanga Airport.
Air cargo volumes also increased. In August, 9% more tonnes of cargo were transported through Lithuanian airports compared with the same period in 2025.
Lithuanian Airports also maintained the largest market share among the Baltic States’ airports in August, reaching 41.6%.
