Florianópolis International Airport records best first quarter in its history.

Florianópolis International Airport achieved its best result ever for the first quarter of 2026. Between January and March, the airport handled a total of 1.78 million passengers, a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Once again, the highlight was international travel, which has seen a cumulative increase of 330% in the number of travelers over the last seven years. Of the total passengers in the quarter, 41% were on international flights, a 31% increase in international traffic compared to the first three months of last year.

Argentina, as is tradition, was the main foreign market in this first quarter. Combined, the five destinations offered to the neighboring country during the summer season – Buenos Aires (Aeroparque and Ezeiza), Córdoba, Rosario, and, for the first time, Salta and Tucumán – accounted for 58% of all international flights operated in the quarter and carried almost 430,000 passengers. Santiago, Chile, also stood out, accounting for 34% of the total international flights operated in the quarter.

In addition to flights to the capitals of Argentina and Chile, Floripa Airport has two other regular international routes: Florianópolis–Panama, operated by Copa Airlines, connecting Santa Catarina to North America and the Caribbean – which recorded a 15% increase in the number of passengers in the quarter – and Florianópolis–Lisbon, operated by TAP, linking the state directly to Europe, which grew 9% in traffic in the first three months of the year.

“The first quarter figures confirm a consistent growth trend, driven mainly by the expansion of international flights. Florianópolis is consolidating itself as an increasingly relevant gateway to Brazil, with a diverse demand profile and strong tourist appeal ,” highlights Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brazil.

Another milestone of the period was the busiest day in the airport's history: on February 2nd, the terminal surpassed the mark of 25,000 passengers in 24 hours for the first time. The result for the first quarter of 2026 reinforces the records already achieved in 2025, when Florianópolis International Airport exceeded 5 million passengers in the year, totaling 5.1 million.

The first quarter results reinforce Floripa Airport's leading role as one of the main international hubs in the country, ranking as the third busiest airport for international passengers in Brazil, behind only Guarulhos (SP) and Galeão (RJ).
