LATAM Brings Regular Commercial Flights Back to Macaé Airport

Macaé, August 4, 2026 – Macaé Airport will once again receive scheduled commercial flights after a three-year hiatus. The flights, operating three times per week, will connect Macaé to São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport. LATAM Airlines Brazil announced on Tuesday (August 4) that ticket sales for the new service will begin this week, with operations scheduled to start in February 2027.

The route will be operated with the new Embraer E195-E2 jets, which will join LATAM Airlines Brazil’s fleet starting in the fourth quarter of 2026. The E195-E2 aircraft accommodate 136 passengers in a 2-2 seating configuration, offering greater comfort for customers.

The return of scheduled commercial flights, suspended since 2023, was made possible by the infrastructure expansion carried out by Zurich Airport Brasil, including the construction of a new runway inaugurated in June 2025. Measuring 1,410 meters in length and 45 meters in width, the project represented an investment of BRL 245 million by the concessionaire. The new runway upgraded the airport’s operational category, allowing it to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Embraer E195-E2. To support E2 operations, which require a greater wingspan clearance, Zurich Airport Brasil is investing an additional BRL 7 million in the construction of turning pads at the airport.

The new runway was designed to create new connectivity opportunities for the region, and LATAM’s arrival confirms the airport’s potential to contribute to the economic, tourism, and business development of the area,” said Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil.

Managed by Zurich Airport Brasil since 2019, Macaé Airport is a national benchmark for offshore operations and further reinforced this position by winning the Petrobras PEOTRAM 2024 Award, which recognizes outstanding performance in safety and operational efficiency in air and maritime transportation serving the oil and gas industry.

Currently, the airport features seven operational hangars, two additional hangars under construction, and four shared lounges for air operators. Furthermore, Macaé is the only Brazilian airport with an offshore base operating with two runways, enhancing operational capacity and supporting the continued growth of oil and gas activities in the Campos Basin.
