About The Airport
BraÈov-Ghimbav International Airport is the newest airport in Romania and the first greenfield airport developed in the country in the last 50 years. Officially opened in June 2023, the airport has quickly established itself as a key regional gateway, demonstrating strong passenger growth and increasing airline interest.
The airport is fully certified in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 139/2014, meeting all European safety and operational standards. Operations are supported by modern infrastructure, including remote tower technology, ensuring efficient and safe air traffic management.
BraÈov has been internationally recognized as one of the world’s top travel destinations, being featured by National Geographic in its ‘Best of the World 2025’ list of the 25 best places to visit globally, alongside iconic destinations such as Bangkok, Los Angeles and Barbados. Additionally, BraÈov ranked 21st in Tripadvisor’s Trending Destinations Worldwide, making it the only European city in the 2024 list of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.
