An outstanding September: +24.4% growth in passenger traffic

An excellent figure for overall traffic growth which reached +24.4%, bringing the total to +8.4% since the start of 2015. 520,700 passengers travelled through Bordeaux in September. Growth in national traffic stood at +32%. This result is to be weighed against the major disruptions of the Air France pilots strikes in 2014, with an estimated loss around 50.000 domestic passengers. The superb growth curve for passenger numbers on international flights encountered for now few years, was maintained with +17.7% this month, continuing to outpace national flights.

International traffic figures stood at nearly 260,000 passengers in September with +17.7%.

Passenger numbers at international hubs provided a significant boost to results for the airport: Brussels +65.5% with the arrival of Brussels Airlines at the start of the season, Istanbul +60.5% with daily flights since March, Lisbon +21,4%, London Gatwick +18%, Madrid +17.6%, Amsterdam +13.5% and Casablanca +6.1%. Paris Charles-de-Gaulle achieved extraordinary growth of +77.4% and 53,700 passengers; the airport had suffered particularly as a result of the 2014 Air France strike. Nearly 150,000 passengers used these international transfer hubs in September.

The other top destinations this autumn are Dublin (+27%), Palma de Majorca (+25.1%), Rome (+21.8%), Milan (+17.1%) and Basel (+12.5%).

Domestic traffic soared: 259,400 passengers were transported, i.e. +32%. Growth at Paris-Orly was +59%, to be weighed against the poor 2014 figures. There was no impact from 2014 and very good scores for other regional routes: Lille +12.8%, Strasbourg +11.6%, Nice +5.8%. Corsica continued to attract, with close to 14,000 passengers and an increase of +18.8%.
