VOLOTEA LAUNCHES THREE NEW ROUTES FROM BORDEAUX: ALICANTE, SPLIT AND FARO

Volotea, the airline of regional European capitals, has today announced the launch of three new routes from Bordeaux Airport: Alicante, Split and Faro. In 2016, the airline will be offering a total of 23 destinations from Bordeaux: six domestic routes and 17 international routes.

Volotea continues to take flight from Bordeaux

From 10 April, Volotea will launch its new routes from Bordeaux Airport:

- Alicante, from 10 April, with 2 flights a week on Thursdays and Sundays and 2 flights a week from 27 May on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

- Split, from 10 April, with 2 flights a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

- Faro, from 2 June, with 1 flight a week on Thursdays

Volotea will therefore bring its number of destinations from Bordeaux up to 23 with six in France (Ajaccio, Bastia, Brest, Figari, Toulon and Strasbourg), five in Italy (Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Pisa and Venice), six in Spain (Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma de Majorca, Tenerife and Alicante) and one in Germany (Munich), two in Croatia (Dubrovnik and Split), one in Greece (Corfu), one in the Czech Republic (Prague) and one in Portugal (Faro).

Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Volotea, Carlos Muñoz said: “We are particularly proud of Volotea’s growth in Bordeaux, where we will have risen from seven destinations in 2012 to 23 in 2016. This is impressive growth due among other factors to our team based in Bordeaux, with over 70 people. The three new routes announced today will allow us to offer a wider choice of destinations, attaining an even larger target.”

Chairman of the Management Board of the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, Pascal Personne said: “The opening of these three new routes confirms the position of Volotea as the airline offering the widest choice of destinations from Bordeaux. This rapid development over the last three years is the illustration of its success at our airport which, as in 2014, continues to lead the way in terms of growth among large regional French airports.”

Since the launch of its operations in the Bordeaux capital in April 2012, Volotea has carried over 786,298 passengers from/to Bordeaux, including more than 260,000 in 2015.

In 2016, Volotea will propose over 504,000 seats from Bordeaux, an increase of 16% over 2015. The airline made 3,483 flights in Bordeaux in 2015, so a 17% rise compared to 2014.

Volotea, exponential growth

In 2016, Volotea will operate 196 routes to 72 French and European cities (13 countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, Czech Republic, Israel, Albania, Moldova, Portugal, Malta and the United Kingdom). In France, the airline will be present in 17 airports from which it will operate 88 routes. In 2015, the airline will have made more than 27,000 flights in Europe with its 19 Boeing 717 planes.

In 2015, Volotea increased the number of its flights by 30% and expects to carry around 2.5 million passengers, for a turnover close to 210 million euros (compared to 160 million in 2014).

The airline recorded a punctuality rate of 86.46% and a recommendation rate of 93% in Bordeaux. Volotea was also ranked 8th among the top 10 best airlines according to annual research carried out by eDreams, drawing on the opinions of 90,000 travellers.
