Ryanair on its way

Flights to Palma de Mallorca and Girona

Cologne Bonn Airport is delighted to welcome a new airline onboard. From May 2012, the Irish airline Ryanair will also be flyingto two destinations from Cologne Bonn Airport. Europe’s largest low-cost airline will fly to Girona on the Costa Brava six times aweek, and a daily flight will take off from Cologne/Bonn to Palma de Mallorca.

“Ryanair represents a very good and practical supplement to our range of airlines, underlining our airport’s position as the largest low-cost Airport in North Rhine-Westphalia,” said Michael Garvens, Chairman of the Management Board of the airport company, Köln Bonn GmbH. With these two new routes, Garvens reckons with some 200,000 additional passengers per year.

“We are delighted that we can include the tenth German airport in the Ryanair network – and that despite the current air traffic surcharges. The Germans are the world champions when it comes to travelling but they are still keen on their low prices. And now, Ryanair will be doing its bit for these reasonable flight prices and the wide range of destinations on offer from Cologne/Bonn,”explained Henrike Schmidt, Ryanair’s Sales & Marketing Manager.

The flights from Cologne/Bonn to Palma de Mallorca take off at 12.55 hours on Mondays, otherwise Tuesday – Sunday at 9.55 hours. Ryanair flights to Girona take off daily apart from Saturday. The take-off times vary from day to day between 10.10 and 20.05 hours.

Tickets for the new routes are already available – to both Girona and Palma de Mallorca from 35.99 EUR. Reservations at www.ryanair.de.

With 9.6 million passengers a year, Cologne Bonn Airport is one of the largest commercial airports in Germany. Cologne/Bonn is also one of the biggest cargo hubs. Last year, 743,000 tonnes of cargo was transported via Cologne/Bonn.
