airBaltic launching flights to Tallinn and Vilnius in 2020 summer timetable

Service to be operated with modern, environmentally friendly Airbus A220-300

airBaltic has announced two new routes from Hamburg for the 2020 summer timetable: from March 2020, there will be year-round direct services to Tallinn and Vilnius from Hamburg Airport. From 29 March 2020, airBaltic will be operating four weekly flights to the Estonian capital of Tallinn, flying every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. And from 30 March 2020, there will be three airBaltic flights to the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, with flights each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Neither Tallinn nor Vilnius has been served direct from Hamburg Airport for some years, and now both destinations are returning to the Hamburg route network. The two airBaltic routes will be flown by modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, formerly known as the Bombardier CS300. This airliner is quieter than comparably sized aircraft and characterised by lower fuel consumption and lower pollutant emissions.

“We are delighted that airBaltic is extending its activities at Hamburg Airport, bringing both Tallinn and Vilnius back to our route network,” says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. “Our passengers will soon be able to choose from an attractive range of flights to all the Baltic capitals. I am particularly thrilled to see that the modern, environmentally friendly Airbus A220-300 is being deployed on the new routes.”

Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic: “As we continue to grow, we aim to provide the best connectivity to and from all three Baltic capitals. When evaluating which destinations to launch from the Baltic capitals we first look for those with the most demand among local passengers. Because of that, we provide an additional contribution to local airports, offering new travel opportunities. By next summer, we will already serve 16 destinations from Estonia, 11 from Lithuania and over 70 destinations from Latvia.”
