Boryspil International Airport and Turkish Airlines Celebrated 20th Anniversary of the Carrier in Ukraine

Turkish Airlines operated its first flight to Boryspil International Airport 20 years ago in May, 2013.

Anton Volov, General Director of Boryspil International Airport: “We are pleased that our passengers using the most popular tourist route are able to be serviced by Turkish Airlines, the Best Airline in Europe in 2012, rated by Skytrax. We are celebrating 20th anniversary of Turkish Airlines operating flights to Ukraine. Airline has performed itself as a reliable airport partner having increased transportations number and passenger flow through our airport. And we are doing our best to make passengers of Turkish Airlines as well as those of the other carriers feel comfortable in our airport.”

Khakan Yilmaz, Head of Turkish Airlines Agency in Kyiv: “We operated three flights a week from Boryspil Airport in 1993, today these are 16 ones. Moreover we launched flights in other Ukrainian cities. Passenger flow has been increasing for all that time and now it is 40% more annually. Half a million passengers used our Ukraine — Istanbul route service in 2012. And this number keeps growing.”

At present 18 flights a week are operated from Turkey to Boryspil International Airport from two Istanbul airports, Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Moreover Turkish Airlines operates 2 freight flights a week using Airbus A310 and A332 aircraft.

It should be considered that Turkish Airlines passengers were among the first ones to experience all the advantages of new technologies, modern equipment and unusual design solutions performed in new Terminal D Complex — airline was nearly the first one having transfer to new Terminal on the 10thof September, 2012.
