On Friday (27 June 2014) Brussels Airlines inaugurated flights on route Brussels-Kraków. This is the carrier's return to Krakow after almost two years of absence.

Flights will be operated all year round – at first three times a week (Mondays, Fridays and Sundays), and from 1 September four times a week (also on Wednesdays).

To celebrate the inaugural flight Krakow Airport had a surprise for passengers. After ribbon-cutting ceremony by representatives of the airport and the carrier, and passing through a gate of balloons in the colours of the carrier specially prepared for the occasion, all passengers departing to Brussels were treated to a pie.

The route to Brussels is particularly important because of the significance of the city as the capital of Belgium and the European Union, the seat of the European Parliament and a number of EU institutions and NATO. Brussels is an important political, commercial, banking, finance, cultural and scientific centre, both for the country and for the entire continent.

Brussels Airlines is the national Belgian carrier. The airline flies to more than 50 cities in 21 European countries, as well as on routes to North America and Africa. In Poland the carrier offers connections from Krakow and Warsaw to Brussels. It is a member of the Star Alliance and a participant in the Miles & More programme.
