Sofia Airport with new direct flights to Baku
With the beginning of the new year, the first scheduled air sevice connecting the capitals of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan was launched.
Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski officially opened the event in the presence of the Board of Directors of Sofia Airport. Among the officials were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Bulgaria H.E. Nargiz Gurbanova, Mayor of Sofia Municipality Yordanka Fandakova, Bulgarian ministers, and representatives of the political and business circles of the two countries. The cake prepared specially for the event arrived on the first flight from Baku and it was cut officially.
All guests and passengers were welcomed according to Bulgarian tradition with bread and salt and received traditional rose oil souvenirs.
Sofia – Baku flights will be operated every Tuesday from Terminal 2, increasing the number of scheduled flights from Sofia Airport to 62.
