Zurich Airport signs Concession Agreement for Airport in India

The concession agreement between the Indian governmental authority and Flughafen Zürich AG for the construction and operation of the second capital city airport in India was signed today.

At the end of November 2019, Flughafen Zürich AG was selected as the preferred bidder for the new Delhi Noida International Airport in India. The relevant concession agreement was signed on site today between the authorities of the federal state of Uttar Pradesh and Flughafen Zürich AG. The concession for the construction and operation of this new airport, 80 kilometers south of Delhi in the Greater Noida Area, extends over a period of forty years.

Construction is expected to start in 2021. The capital investments associated with the first construction phase will amount to around CHF 650 million. After commissioning, the new airport will have a capacity of at least 12 million passengers per year. Flughafen Zürich AG owns 100% of the project.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Flughafen Zürich AG remains convinced of the long-term growth opportunities of the Indian aviation market.

International airport activities
In addition to the project in India, Flughafen Zürich AG is currently involved in eight airports in Latin America. In addition to four airports in Brazil and two in Chile, the Zurich airport operator is involved in the airports in Bogotá and Curaçao.
