The Canary Islands were Top of Mind in the last Month of Autumn at Aalborg Airport

Autumn at Aalborg Airport was concluded with biting cold Danish winter, providing a strong incentive for a sunny trip southward, where the Canary Islands were top of mind in November 2023. With continued momentum in international travel, there was an overall increase of 1.6 percent compared to November 2022.

In November 2023, a total of 105,548 passengers passed through the terminal at Aalborg Airport, representing a growth of 1.6 percent compared to the same month the previous year. This was a result of, among other factors, a significant increase of 28.9 percent in international travelers in November.

100 more international flights to and from Aalborg Airport

The high demand for international travel was unmistakable in November 2023. In comparison to November 2022, there were more than double the number of departures to Amsterdam with KLM – a popular route for both business and leisure travelers heading to overseas destinations in Asia and North America.

"In this year's winter program, we have added more KLM traffic to the mix, with a total of four daily departures throughout the winter. Compared to November last year, we have had approximately 100 more flights to and from abroad. The majority of these are KLM flights, which partly compensated for the lower domestic traffic in November. Therefore, travelers had many options to continue their journeys worldwide via both Copenhagen and Amsterdam," CEO Niels Hemmingsen and continues, "In November, we were also delighted to receive significant recognition from KLM, which named us the European airport with the best customer experience. This is thanks to our dedicated staff who make a tremendous effort every day."

Up to 10 weekly departures to the Canary Islands

This year, the options for traveling to the Canary Islands from Aalborg Airport is higher than in previous years. In addition to the always-popular charter flights with companies such as Apollo Rejser, Bravo Tours, Spies, and TUI, Norwegian entered the scene in November with a direct route to Tenerife. In December, we can look forward to airBaltic with two weekly departures to Gran Canaria and the new addition of La Palma with Bravo Tours just before Christmas and New Year.

"The new Norwegian route to Tenerife has started very well, with fully booked flights throughout the month. Additionally, on Sunday, we can also look forward to welcoming airBaltic with their direct route to Gran Canaria. Therefore, sun and beach on the Canary Islands will dominate the departure boards in the upcoming winter months, with up to 10 weekly departures to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma, and Tenerife," concludes Niels Hemmingsen.
