Edinburgh’s Enchanting Christmas

Edinburgh’s world famous festive celebrations begin in less than 2 weeks. The Christmas Market will open on George Street on the 17th of November and in East Princes Street Gardens the following day. Edinburgh’s Christmas will officially begin with Light Night on the 19th of November. Head to Light Night to see The Christmas Tree on the Mound, a gift from Hordaland County Council in Norway to the City of Edinburgh Council, being switched on.

Edinburgh’s Christmas has lots of great attractions to visit, as well as the Scottish Market and the European Market, the ice rink will be back at St Andrew Square, looping around the Mitchell Monument. Take a ride on the Big Wheel for magnificent views of Edinburgh, and if you’re visiting with children, Santa Land has plenty of rides and attractions to keep them occupied.

The city will also be adorned in twinkling lights, head to George Street and check out the lights that are wrapped around the pillars at The Dome, which are already on!

Edinburgh’s Christmas will run until the 6th of January, and of course Edinburgh’s infamous Hogmanay celebrations will take place on the 31st of December.  Often referred to as one of the best Christmas markets in Europe, Edinburgh’s Christmas is well worth a visit.
