The "Boarding Pass Verification System" has been launched at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) has added another practical solution to its portfolio of solutions designed to make passengers' time at the airport more comfortable. The "Boarding Pass Verification System," launched today, makes boarding faster and easier for passengers. With the new system, passengers can comfortably pass through the checkpoint by scanning their boarding passes, ID cards, passports, or driver's licenses with digital verification devices.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, the city's gateway to the world, enhances passenger travel experiences by integrating technological solutions that enhance speed and comfort into airport operations. In response to the increasing passenger and flight traffic at ISG, these applications provide guests with comfortable access from the airport to their aircraft.

At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (İSG) International Airport, Türkiye's second-largest airport, the Boarding Pass Verification System, launched as part of the "Passenger Flow Improvement Project," will allow passengers to start their journeys comfortably and pleasantly, with shorter wait times at check-in and security. This implementation is part of the airport's vision to provide passengers with a smoother and more stress-free travel experience and represents a significant step toward the airport's digitalization and automation goals.

Boarding pass verification turnstiles allow passengers to pass directly to X-Ray areas by scanning their boarding pass, mobile boarding pass, ID card or driver's license without waiting for the officers to process their passes, thanks to the digital verification system.

Which documents are valid for domestic and international passenger transfers?

The Boarding Pass Verification System uses different valid travel documents for domestic and international passengers. For domestic flights, the following valid travel documents are available: a printed boarding pass, a mobile boarding pass, a Turkish ID card, and a new driver's license. Guests arriving at the Domestic Departure Gate can easily pass through the 10 digital verification devices located at the entrance with their valid documents.

International passengers will be able to use the devices with printed boarding passes and mobile boarding passes. When systems are ready for digital innovations, boarding pass verification will also be possible with other travel documents (passport, facial recognition, etc.). A total of 18 turnstiles have been opened for passenger use: 16 at the entrance to the International Departures Terminal and two at the e-passport entrance.

Technological solutions streamline operations at ISG, Europe's second busiest airport

Thanks to the e-passport system, another convenience offered by ISG, Turkish citizens can complete passport control in 20 seconds following facial recognition and fingerprint checks.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport has a total of 34 e-passport counters: 15 on the departures floor and 19 on the arrivals floor. The counters on the departures floor are located at the entrance to the Turkish passport control point, while those on the arrivals floor are located next to the flight attendants and the disabled passenger access area.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) International Airport, which broke a historic record with 158,678 passengers on August 3, became the second busiest airport in Europe in terms of passenger traffic in the first half of 2025, according to ACI reports, and also showed the best performance with 11.5 percent growth in the "Major Airports" category with a passenger capacity of over 40 million.
