Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen breaks historical records

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) International Airport, Türkiye's second-largest airport in terms of passenger numbers and Europe's 9th busiest, broke eight records in its airport history, primarily in terms of total flight and passenger numbers, on August 3, 2025.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) Airport, which has become a strategic hub for air travel between Europe, Asia, and Africa, is breaking record after record during the summer months. Yesterday (Sunday, August 3, 2025), significant increases were seen, particularly in international passenger and flight numbers, with records being broken in eight different categories.

While serving a total of 158,678 guests on this busiest day of the airport, records were broken in terms of the total number of passengers and flights, the number of international arriving and departing passengers, the number of arriving and departing flights, and the total number of international flights and passengers.

Yesterday, records last reached on July 27th were renewed in international flight data. Accordingly, the number of international arrivals increased from 44,446 to 45,715, and the number of flights from 237 to 244. The number of international departures increased from 43,499 to 45,000. Thus, the total daily passenger count on international routes, which was 87,945 on July 27th, reached 90,715. The total number of international flights also increased from 475 to 493, with a total of 840 flights recorded.

Pushing the limits of its capacity with the ever-increasing number of passengers, ISG is now enjoying a comfortable and convenient travel experience thanks to the positive effects of the "Passenger Flow Improvement Project," which was implemented with an investment of approximately 34 million euros last year.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which offers passengers a faster and more comfortable experience with technological and operational improvements in security and passport processes as a result of a series of renovations carried out in the terminal without disrupting existing passenger traffic, aims to increase passenger satisfaction with its continuously improving service quality.

Known as the "City Airport" for its ease of access and proximity to central locations, and the first choice of many passengers with its compact structure, ISG connects Istanbul and its surrounding area to a total of 148 destinations in 53 countries, 39 domestic and 109 international.
