Netflix cooperation with Lodz Film School

Netflix has started a series of workshops for students of Lodz Film School. This is the beginning of joint, long-term cooperation.

The joint initiative will make it easier for young talents to take their first steps on their artistic path and will also facilitate the beginning of their professional career in the Polish audiovisual industry.

The main assumption of the long-term cooperation between the Lodz Film School and Netflix is the creative development of a new generation of filmmakers from Poland. The partners share common goals - discovering and supporting young talents, as well as enabling them to improve the practical professional competencies necessary to start a career in the changing film market.

The project is part of the international Netflix Grow Creative programme, under which students of screenwriting, film production and directing take part in a series of workshops conducted by experts in their fields. Training for people linking their future with the creative industry will include, among others: conducting and coordinating creative cooperation, screenplay writing and development, preparing for pitching.

Netflix is one of the world's largest entertainment streaming services with 222 million subscribers in over 190 countries. It offers many movie genres, series, programs, and mobile games in different languages.

Last time the most popular series on NETFLIX is "The Witcher", based on the book series of the same name by born and living in Lodz, Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. What few people know is that the main hero of the popular books and TV series " The Witcher" was literally born in the city of Lodz.

Sapkowski wrote his first stories about Geralt of Rivia in Lodz, at Narutowicza street. So we can assume that the Witcher was born 35 years ago in Lodz.

One more interesting fact is, that in 2018 Netflix bought the distribution rights to the series produced by the Lodz studio Opus Film. Furthermore, the crime series "Ultraviolet" was filmed in Lodz and also at the Lodz airport.
