Salalah International Airport welcomes (NordWind Airlines) first Direct charter flight from Russia, Moscow

Salalah International Airport welcomed its first direct charter flight from Moscow Russia, coinciding with the beginning of the winter season in Dhofar (Monsoon season); starting from October to April of each year. NordWind Airlines is scheduled for two weekly direct flights' from Moscow to Salalah; arriving  at 11:30 am on Monday the 15th of October 2018.

Salim bin Awadh al Yafei, deputy CEO of Salalah Airport said, “The airport has completed its preparations in cooperation with our strategic partners (Ministry of Tourism) to welcome Nordwind Airlines. Our preparations are in line with the plans to receive more than 5,400 tourists from Russia to Dhofar during the winter tourism season, making it the first charter flight from Moscow.”

NordWind Airlines has a fleet of 32 aircrafts' of different sizes, with 2,845 employees and operates in 110 cities across four continents in the world.  Some of the Arab countries the airline operates to include Morocco, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Nordwind Airlines is ranked as Russia’s eighth largest airline and Russia’s sixth passenger transportation. "The new route has been launched to Salalah through the airline's largest aircraft fleet where 164 passengers were on the Nordwind flight to Salalah Airport,” Al Yafei said.

 Salalah International  Airport has achieved success in the last season by welcoming passengers from different parts of Europe. Oman Airports and the tourism Authority work closely with one another and is considered as one of the main pillars to achieving the 2040 Tourism Strategy. The collaboration with Oman tourism authority is part of Oman Airports destination Marketing strategy to which continues to be key focus.
