We are becoming one of the first “smart” airports in Croatia thanks to the NextGen 5G Airports project
As part of the project carried out by Hrvatski Telekom with co-financing from the European Union, private 5G networks will be built at Zagreb, Zadar, and Pula airports, laying the foundation for further digitalization and the application of advanced technologies.
Perimeter surveillance cameras and sensors
At Pula Airport, the project includes the implementation of UHD camera systems and sensors for perimeter surveillance, along with industrial tablets and artificial intelligence-based software for runway inspection.
Direction: Modernization
“This is an important step forward in the digitalization of Croatian air traffic, and we are glad to participate in it together with our partners. The implementation of a private 5G network and advanced surveillance systems is an important step in the modernization of Pula Airport. The new technology will enable us to monitor airport infrastructure more efficiently, achieve a higher level of security, and execute operational tasks faster. Developing a smart airport is the direction we are striving toward, with the goal of continuously improving working conditions for our employees and service quality for our passengers,” emphasizes Marko Ražem, Director of Pula Airport.
In addition to Hrvatski Telekom and the other airports, the project is being carried out in cooperation with the company Markoja and the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at the University of Zagreb, whose expertise contributes to the development and implementation of advanced technological solutions.
