Five new routes and a new operator launch from Southampton Airport

Five new routes and a new operator will launch from Southampton Airport within the next three weeks, offering more choice of destinations than ever before. By 6th June, people travelling from this region will be able to access up to 49 different destinations from the Hampshire airport, including 15 routes across France.

Flybe has launched three new routes to France this summer, with flights to Beziers, Clermont-Ferrand and Pau operating several times each week.  Flights to Clermont-Ferrand commence on 21st May with prices starting from £52.99 one-way including taxes and charges.  Services to Pau begin on 25th May costing from £52.99, and Beziers flights start 27th May with prices from £68.99.

Thomas Cook is new to Southampton Airport for 2011 offering summer holidays to both Majorca on Saturdays, and Menorca on Sundays.  Both have excellent morning departure times from Southampton meaning holidays start that bit sooner.  More details are available at www.thomascook.com, or by visiting the nearest Thomas Cook or Going Places store.  In addition, Thomson and First Choice are offering more seats to Majorca this summer due to popular demand. Bookings can be made at www.thomson.co.uk or www.firstchoice.co.uk.

The fifth new route to launch from Southampton Airport this summer is to Dijon with Eastern Airways.  Flights will operate three times a week from 6th June, with fares starting from £75 one way, including taxes.  Bookings can be made at www.easternairways.com or via your local travel agent.

Jan Halliday, Director of Marketing & Communications for Southampton Airport, said: “The start of five new routes and a new operator joining the airport is fantastic news for the region and shows the summer holiday season is really getting underway now.  It is also excellent news for people travelling inbound from our destinations that are increasingly using Southampton Airport to explore the south, and as an easy way to access London, just 66 minutes away by train.  We expect this trend to continue, particularly during the forthcoming Olympics when passengers will have easy and fast access to both the London and Weymouth events via Southampton Airport.”
