The new route was officially opened by Bulgaria's ambassador in Belgium, Mr. Hristo Georgiev and BSCA's Chairwoman of the Board, Mrs. Edmée De Groeve who jointly welcomed the first arriving passengers by offering flowers and Belgian chocolates. The fire brigade of Brussels South-Charleroi Airport welcomed the aircraft with a spectacular water arch.

Edmée De Groeve, Chairwoman of the airport said today:

„We are delighted with the development of WizzAir at our airport and especially with this new route to yet another European capital. This year approximately 3 million passengers will travel through the new terminal of Brussels South-Charleroi Airport due to the great choice of destinations, the lowest fares and easy -hassle free- access. We are very pleased with today's decision of the governement of Wallonia to build a railway station underneath the terminal of our airport in order to ensure even better connections with Belgium's major cities. We expect this railway connection to generate up to 9% more passenger traffic for the airport and to contribute to our ecological efforts in order to remain Belgium's only friendly airport."
