The low-cost airline JetSMART announced the launch of its international operations that will directly connect the vibrant Dominican Republic with two of Colombia’s most dynamic cities. Beginning December 5, travelers will be able to fly from Punta Cana to Medellín and Cali, on routes that take off with the energy of the Caribbean and land in the cultural and commercial heart of the coffee nation.

Each of these routes will offer three weekly flights between Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) and Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali and José María Córdova International Airport in Medellín, providing more options, greater flexibility, and more opportunities for Dominicans and Colombians to enjoy beaches, nature, gastronomy, business, and unique experiences in both destinations.

To celebrate this launch, the airline will offer a special promotional code, “1ERVUELO,” with up to 20% off ticket purchases. Travelers will be able to access this exclusive promotion from December 5 to December 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (Dominican Republic time), by purchasing directly through the airline’s official channels.

Those who purchase under this promotion may buy tickets to travel between January 15 and June 25, 2026, offering an excellent opportunity to plan vacations, quick getaways, or business trips between the Dominican Republic and Colombia.

“With this start of operations, we aim for Dominicans to enjoy excellent connectivity with Colombia and also with the rest of South America, taking advantage of the various connections JetSMART offers—always at ultra-low prices. These new routes make it possible to discover the best of Medellín and Cali: cities full of culture, great food, nightlife, nearby nature, and urban offerings that attract both leisure and business travelers,” said Verónica Marambio Álvarez, Commercial Manager for International Markets and Regional Development at JetSMART.

For his part, Mr. Giovanni Rainieri, Director of Airside Operations at Punta Cana Airport, stated: “Today we celebrate a milestone of great importance for regional connectivity. The opening of this flight strengthens cultural exchange, fosters new business opportunities, and expands travel options for both our Dominican passengers and our international visitors. Medellín and Punta Cana now have a more direct, modern, and accessible bridge that will contribute to the tourism and economic development of both countries.”

With these new routes, the airline reaffirms its commitment to continuing to strengthen international connectivity from the Dominican Republic, creating more opportunities for tourism, cultural exchange, and economic development between the two countries.
