Kansai International Airport, an airport of Kansai Airports

Kansai Airports Group is composed of 8 companies, including Kansai Airports. Kansai Airports was established by a consortium with VINCI Airports and ORIX Corporation as its core members. Kansai Airports took over the operations of Kansai International Airport (“KIX”) and Osaka International Airport (“ITAMI”) from New Kansai International Airport Company (“NKIAC”), and has been operating the two airports since April 1, 2016. Kansai Airports Kobe, Kansai Airports’ wholly-owned subsidiary, took over the operations of Kobe Airport (“KOBE”) from the city of Kobe, and started its business as an operating company on April 1, 2018.

Kansai International Airport (KIX)

KIX, which was opened in 1994, is an important international hub for the country providing one of the largest networks for both domestic and international routes with complete 24-hours operations. The airport is considered as a gateway for the Kansai area, which includes Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara and other cities in the western part of Japan, with 28 million passengers per year.
