Tampere welcomes WOMEX – the World Music Expo – in October
WOMEX – the World Music Expo – is the most international music meeting in the world and the biggest conference of the global music scene, featuring a trade fair, talks, films and a showcase festival. Since 1994 WOMEX has been travelling all across Europe. In 2019 it travels to Tampere, Finland. WOMEX 19 will be organised from 23rd to 27th October, and the main venue for the event will be Tampere Hall, the largest congress and concert centre in the Nordic countries.
Over 2,500 professionals come together every October from more than 90 countries, making WOMEX not only the number one networking platform for the world music industry, but also the most diverse music meeting worldwide. Its musical spectrum is unparalleled in the international showcase festival scene, ranging from the most traditional to the new global local underground, embracing folk, roots, local and diaspora cultures and urban and electronic sounds from all over the globe as well as all musical juxtapositions of these. Jazz and classical are explicitly welcome!
7 stages, 700+ exhibiting companies, 80 speakers, films, an opening concert and an award ceremony across five packed networking days and rather short nights.
WOMEX Festival is a part of the world music expo programme comprising of more than 40 showcase concerts, including five DJ sessions that is open to everyone on 24-25-26 October 2019.
Tickets are available as a Three Day Pass or a Daily Ticket (excluding offWOMEX stage) and include admission to all night-time concerts (subject to capacity!). Every evening, the guests attending will be able to choose from over 12 live concerts, and DJ sessions. The concerts will take place on various stages of the Tampere Hall, Tullikamari, and Paja Kongressi.
