Tampere lands a new festival – and Iron Maiden!

Rock legend Iron Maiden will be coming to the new rock festival in Tampere! Rockfest takes place on the first weekend of June 5.-7.6.2020. Iron Maiden’s gig is part of the major world tour Legacy of the Beast.

Since the world tour started in 2018, Iron Maiden has played to nearly 2 million fans in 39 countries, including at the Rock in Rio festival with an audience of 100 000 people. Iron Maiden offers a playlist full of hits and fans’ favourites. The band promises the Legacy of the Beast gig to offer a spectacular show with songs to satisfy the hard core fans and festival goers alike.

"We’ve had an awesome tour. Everything from the stage show to the props  including Eddie – have received phenomenal feedback. The whole band’s had so much fun and we’re looking forward to bring our show to Rockfest, and to play for both new and old fans!" says the lead singer Bruce Dickinson.

90 million records sold in over 44 years, Iron Maiden’s fan base reaches over generations. The most known hit songs by this British legend are, among others, “The Trooper”, ”Hallowed Be Thy Name”, ”Fear Of The Dark” and ”The Greater Good Of God”. Band’s front man and singer is one of the world’s most well-known metal voices, Bruce Dickinson. Iron Maiden’s trademark, mascot Eddie The Head, visits the band’s gigs as a part of the massive and visually flamboyant stage show.

Rockfest’s other confirmed performer is Nightwish, rarely seen here in their home country. Nightwish will be releasing a new album in spring 2020, and the Rockfest gig will be the first live show with the brand new songs. More artists will be revealed still before Christmas and throughout the spring – stay tuned!

"It’s great to come and bring Finland’s biggest rock festival Rockfest to Tampere – and to a whole new venue. The Särkänniemi Event Beach area will get a true hard core initiation with real monsters of rock," rejoices the promoter of Nelonen Media Live, Timo Isomäki.

Festival moves to Tampere and will be set up at the new Särkänniemi event area, which is a significant new venue designed for events in the lake scenery of Näsijärvi shore. Rockfest has previously been held in Vantaa and Hyvinkää.
