Routes Asia 2026 - Xi'an Site Visit

Routes Asia 2026 will take place in Xi’an, China, between 14-16 April. Prior to the event, the Routes team conduct numerous site visits to the destination to meet with the hosts, visit the venue where over 3,000 meetings will take place to define air connectivity and explore the fantastic opportunities that delegates can experience during their time in Xi’an, including numerous networking events. 

Members of our Host & Event Management and Marketing teams visited the dynamic destination and shared their experience and recommendations with future Routes Asia 2026 delegates. 

Who did you meet with? 

It was a pleasure to meet with the Host team, including China West Airport Group and Xi’an Xianyang International Airport. The hosts have formed multiple working groups to ensure everything from networking entertainment to complimentary tours will bring unforgettable experiences for the Asia Pacific route development community. 

We also met with the team at the Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center and viewed a variety of the Official Hotels which boast great facilities and modern interiors. 

What can you tell us about the venue? 

The Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center is a large-scale venue, newly built in 2020. Located on the banks of the Ba River, adjacent to the Xi'an World Expo Park, it is easily accessible from Official Hotels and a taxi ride away from the captivating city. The Routes Asia 2026 hall is filled with natural light ready to highlight the creativity of exhibitors. 

Where did you stay? 

We stayed at the Holiday Inn which is a short drive to the venue and located nearby to other Official Hotels. With an indoor pool, fitness centre and restaurant this hotel promises a relaxing stay from the meeting-filled event days.  

What did you see? 

The Networking locations are astonishingly beautiful and the perfect setting to catch up with industry partners. The hosts have organised fantastic entertainment to showcase how Xi’an blends ancient and modern, with live performances that captivate the city’s cultural charm alongside fascinating light shows against iconic landmarks.  

We also had the opportunity to see the globally renowned Terracotta Army, hailed the 8th wonder of the world, delegates will have the chance to experience this once in a lifetime experience on a complimentary tour. 

What is one thing you would recommend our delegates must do during their time in Xi’an? 

Xi’an history has inspired travel and trade as we know it today. Thanks to its location on the Silk Road, the city boats a blend of cultures and is home to 6 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites. With a variety of attractions, there really is something for everyone to enjoy. Our hosts have curated a list of must-see sights around the city including DaTang Everbright City and Xi’an Wold Expo Park.
