Bergamo al Serio airport

The departure lounge for Schengen flights in the new terminal of Bergamo Orio al Serio airport "Il Caravaggio" will be named after Ilario Testa,

president for 15 years of SACBO, the management company of Bergamo airport. The decision was taken by the SACBO Board of Directors, chaired by Miro Radici, who welcomed the proposal put forward by shareholders which was approved unanimously.

Ilario Testa, who led the airport management company for five consecutive terms between 1993 and 2008, is credited for having recognised the market potential for low cost flights and for settling an agreement with Ryanair, which on the 14th February 2012 celebrated its ten year anniversary of flight operations out of Bergamo Orio al Serio airport.

Ilario Testa passed away in July 2010 at the age of 85. He had a brilliant managerial career as Managing Director of Dalmine and then as President of SACBO, providing the airport with excellent results and placing it fourth in national hub rankings in terms of passenger movement.

In view of his managerial qualities, Ilario Testa was awarded in 2006 an honorary degree in Management engineering by the University of Bergamo. His name will from now on be associated with the central body of the new terminal.
