Lyon Airport's route network continues to grow with the news of the launch of direct flights to Amman with Royal Jordanian Airlines.

The Jordanian capital will be connected to Lyon from 14th September with twice-weekly flights operated by the country's flag carrier.

As a tourism destination with growing visibility and popularity, this new route will facilitate access for travellers from the Lyon area and the wider Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

A country known for it's hospitality, Jordan offers a diverse range of sights and activities, from relaxing in the rejuvenating spas of the Dead Sea, enjoying the beautiful beaches and stunning marine and coral life of Aqaba by the Red Sea, visiting one of the many historic sights such as Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, to the religious sites such as Bethany, believed by Christian tradition to be the probable site of Jesus' baptism.

Tourists will also be able to enjoy art galleries, fairs, festivals and local street arts present throughout the country, while discovering the local gastronomy renowned in the region.

Flights will be operated from Lyon to Queen Alia International Airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting on 14th September 2022 meaning the Jordanian capital will be accessible in just 4 hours from Lyon.

The Amman hub also allows 14 convenient connections to the Middle East (Aqaba, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Baghdad, Cairo, Damman, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Medina and Sulaymaniyah) as well as to Bangkok.
