RFD Sets Another Passenger Record in September
September Traffic Increases 52 Percent from Last Year
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) reported its busiest September on record for passenger traffic this year, serving 13,147 passengers during the month. The airport’s traffic for the month grew 52 percent compared to September 2011 when 8,629 passengers utilized RFD.
“Our new service to Denver and strong traffic to Tampa/St. Pete were leading contributors to make September a record-breaking month at RFD. We also had some special flights that helped drive passenger numbers including three charter flights and the arrival of the European Ryder Cup team,” said RFD Director Mike Dunn.
RFD also reported another consecutive month with a high load factor with flights being 89 percent full in September. The overall load factor at RFD for 2012 is also at 89 percent.
RFD’s previous passenger record for September was set in 2005 when the airport served 12,190 passengers that month. This is the second time in 2012 that RFD has set a new passenger record. In March, RFD reached a milestone by reporting the busiest passenger month in the airport’s history.
Year-to-date traffic at RFD is up 13 percent compared to 2011. The airport has served 166,249 passengers from January – September 2012. The airport served 147,014 passengers during that time in 2011.
