RFD Reports December 2012 Traffic

Rockford, IL – The Chicago Rockford International Airport today released passenger traffic numbers for December 2012. The airport recognized a 16.9% decrease in passengers with 15,127 passengers flying in and out in December. Overall flights during the month were 88% full.
2012 was a very successful year for RFD with a 10.3% increase in traffic. In total RFD served 210,406 passengers in 2012, surpassing 2011 passenger totals in just 11 months and becoming the second busiest year in airport history. Overall for the year-to-date flights have been 89% full.

2011 – 190,767 Passengers

“We had a very strong 2012. With nearly 20,000 more passengers in 2012 than we had in 2011, we are now getting back to our pre-recession passenger levels.” said Mike Dunn. “We knew December would be down due to the loss of Ft. Myers service that we had last year at this time, but we’re excited to have Allegiant picking up the route beginning February 14th” said Dunn.
2013 has two destinations coming online in the first two months. On January 28th Apple Vacations service to Montego Bay, Jamaica begins and on February 14th Allegiant service to Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda begins. “Both of these destinations coming online will continue the growth we saw in 2012” said Dunn.

The Chicago Rockford International Airport is served by three airlines, Allegiant, Apple Vacations and Frontier. The three airlines service nine non-stop destinations. RFD currently has flights to Cancun, Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix, Punta Cana and Tampa Bay. Apple Vacations service to Montego Bay, Jamaica begins January 28th. Allegiant service to Ft.
