RFD Launches New Non-Stop Service to Jamaica

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Today Apple Vacations launched its first flight of the new nonstop jet service from the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) to Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Weekly departure and return flights will run through April 1, 2013.
In additional to Cancun and Punta Cana, Montego Bay is RFD’s third international destination offered through Apple Vacations. These destinations have drawn solid bookings at RFD with flights sold out or at near capacity.

“We have a wonderful partnership with Apple Vacations and we are proud to count Jamaica as one of the nine great leisure destinations out of RFD,” said RFD Director Mike Dunn. “Passengers love RFD’s free parking and hassle-free experience in addition to the efficient customs clearance on the return trip in less than a half hour. Adding Jamaica to RFD’s list of top leisure destinations gives us an opportunity to bring in additional new passengers and showcase the airport’s hassle-free experience.”

Passenger traffic in 2012 was up 10.3 percent compared to the previous year and marks the second busiest year in the airport’s history.
