RFD Reports January and February Passenger Traffic

Rockford, IL – The Chicago Rockford International Airport today released passenger traffic numbers for January and February 2013. The airport recognized a 11% decrease in available seats, but only a 9.7% decrease in passengers for the first two months of the year. Overall flights during the month were 88% full. 

January 2013 – 16,313 Passengers

January 2012 – 19,652 Passengers

16.9% decrease in passengers

18.9% decrease in capacity

February 2013 – 18,828 Passengers

February 2012 – 19,263 Passengers

2.3% decrease in passengers

2.7% decrease in capacity

YTD 2013 – 35,141 Passengers

YTD 2012 – 38,915 Passengers

9.7% decrease in passengers

11% decrease in capacity

“Although our overall passenger numbers are down, much of that is a decrease in capacity due to the absence of Ft. Myers service in January and part of February.” said Airport Director Mike Dunn. “With Ft. Myers service through Allegiant starting on February 14thand new Apple Vacation service to Montego Bay continuing through the spring, we expect our March numbers to rebound nicely, and possibly break our all-time monthly passenger record.” Said Dunn

The Chicago Rockford International Airport is served by three airlines, Allegiant, Apple Vacations and Frontier. The three airlines service nine non-stop destinations.
