The cold winter months were in February 2024 concluded with an increasing travel activity abroad from Aalborg Airport and an overall passenger increase of 4.1 percent compared to the same month last year. With winter holidays in week 7 and 8 and the large Danish Travel Show in Herning, extra focus was set on sunny, cultural, and city experiences from Aalborg Airport in the year's shortest month. The vibrant holiday atmosphere was therefore evident, and the expectations for some travel-filled spring and summer months are high.

The Winter holidays usually gives rise to a trip to Sourthern Europe, a city break, or a ski trip to the Alps or Norway. February 2024 was no exception with full focus on holiday trips abroad. With a total increase of 4.1 percent compared to February 2023, there were a total of 94,122 travelers to and from Aalborg Airport in February this year.

An Increase of more than 45 percent in International Traffic

In February 2024, there was a significant increase in international traffic of 45.2 percent – a result of great activity on the non-stop routes to Amsterdam, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Madeira, which opened at the beginning of the month. With an almost 16 percent increase in the number of charter passengers in February this year, there were over 11,000 more travelers to and from abroad than in February 2023.

- The new Madeira route with Norwegian has been off to a great start, and it is already clear that the route will be on the program again in 2025, as is the case for Tenerife. It is therefore evident that charter and foreign traffic continue to be in a very positive development, which for example is driven by KLM's route to Amsterdam, where they had over 80 percent more departures in February this year than in February last year, CEO Niels Hemmingsen and continues:

- The overall increase for the month should be evaluated in the light of lower capacity on the domestic route to Copenhagen, which is why the increase could have been greater, but we are at a reasonable level so far in 2024.

Focus on Summer Trips to the Danish Travel Show Fair

Once again this year, Aalborg Airport participated in the Danish Travel Show fair in Herning at the end of week 8. SAS and the travel agencies NILLES Rejser, Best Travel, and Bravo Tours were present at the airport's stand, each focusing on their travel universe – with everything from unique package tours, charter favorites, and trips around the world. There was also great interest in learning more about the airport, the summer travel program, and making a good purchase in the airport's Duty-Free shop.
