Historical Record at Bratislava Airport – July Saw the Highest Monthly Number of Passengers

M. R. Štefánik Airport achieved an absolute historical record in July for the number of passengers handled in a single month! In July, a record-breaking 358,898 passengers were processed on arrivals and departures. This is the highest number of passengers ever handled at the airport in a single month since its establishment in 1951.

The previous highest monthly passenger count was reached before the coronavirus pandemic, in July 2018, with a total of 349,720 passengers.

“This July we managed to break the magical monthly threshold of 350,000 passengers, which had never been surpassed at the airport before. An impressive nearly 359,000 passengers handled in just one month is the absolute monthly record in the airport’s history. We also processed historically high passenger numbers this May and June, but July marked the highest count ever recorded,” explained Dušan Novota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of M. R. Štefánik Airport.

“Most passengers in July departed from Bratislava Airport to Antalya, Turkey, followed by scheduled flights to London, as well as scheduled and charter flights to Burgas, Larnaca, and Egyptian Hurghada,” added Dušan Novota, noting that the record growth in July was also supported by seven new scheduled routes — to Gdansk, Milan–Malpensa, Bari, Skiathos, Zadar, Tel Aviv, and Copenhagen.

In the seventh month of the year, the airport operated a total of 3,391 flights, and air cargo transport rose by 50% compared to July last year, reaching as much as 1,568 tonnes of freight.
