BTS Records Historic Passenger Numbers for the Fourth Consecutive Month

In May, June, July, and now also in August, M. R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava recorded the highest monthly passenger numbers in its history. During August, airport staff handled a total of 355,658 passengers, setting a historic August record. This result is 11% higher than in the same month last year.
„Before the coronavirus pandemic, the airport had never in its history surpassed the 350,000-passenger mark in a single month. The highest number back then was in July 2018, with over 349,000 passengers. This year, we’ve crossed that milestone twice – in July with nearly 359,000 passengers, which was the absolute all-time monthly record, and now again in August with more than 355,000 passengers. In just these two summer holiday months, we handled over 714,000 arriving and departing travelers,“ said Dušan Novota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of M. R. Štefánik Airport.
In August, the most popular departures from Bratislava were to Antalya, London (Stansted and Luton airports combined), Burgas, Larnaca, and Hurghada.
„The record growth this year has been continuously supported by seven new scheduled routes launched during the summer flight schedule, as well as by non-scheduled charter flights operated by travel agencies,“ Dušan Novota explained.
During the eighth month of the year, a total of 3,533 flights took place at the airport, meaning take-offs and landings increased by 3% compared to August of last year. Air cargo transport also rose by 64% compared to August 2024, reaching 1,358 tons of freight.
OPERATING RESULTS OF THE AIRPORT FROM JANUARY TO AUGUST 2025

Cargo transport has also seen a significant increase – 12,088 tons of air freight have been transported so far, representing a 65% rise year-on-year.
