HISTORIC EXPANSION: Bratislava Airport welcomes 2 further Wizz Air aicrafts

Wizz Air will station two further aircraft in Bratislava making a total of four aircraft and 30 routes served from Slovakia • Eleven additional routes starting 21 November 2025 with further launches in January and March 2026 • Wizz Air will be flying from Bratislava to Kosice, Larnaca, Chisinau, Berlin, Dortmund, Rome, Tirana, Ohrid, Prishtina, Tel Aviv, Tuzla and Warsaw

Bratislava Airport (BTS) welcomes Wizz Air’s decision to expand its base and operations in Slovakia with 2 new aircraft and 12 new routes from Bratislava, including the domestic connection to Kosice. Flights roll out from 21 November 2025, with additional services launching in January and March 2026. This development underlines the airport’s role in strengthening air connectivity for passengers across Slovakia. Tickets are already available soon on Wizz Air’s official website and through its mobile app.

Bratislava Airport will increase available capacity for travellers departing from and arriving to the capital. Together with Wizz Air, this growth phase provides a meaningful uplift for the year ahead and widens the range of schedules and destinations available to customers across Slovakia.

For passengers from Bratislava, the network expansion translates into more nonstops at competitive fares and improved connectivity via Bratislava to Europe’s key cities. By linking Bratislava to major urban and leisure destinations—and by establishing a frequent domestic service between Bratislava and Kosice—Bratislava will help facilitate business travel, visiting-friends-and-relatives trips and tourism, supporting the wider Slovak economy.

Following the August base launch, today’s announcement confirms 12 additional Bratislava services, led by the Bratislava–Kosice domestic route from 21 November 2025, with further launches in January and March 2026. This step is aligned with broader progress across Slovakia’s network, including the recently highlighted Poprad-Tatry–Gdańsk connection.

Jozsef Varadi, CEO, Wizz Air, said: “We’re delighted to deepen our partnership with Bratislava Airport by launching another 12 new routes, including the much-anticipated Košice domestic service. Today marks a historic expansion indeed, as with these additional routes Wizz Air is offering the highest number of scheduled routes operated by a single airline in Bratislava. With our young, efficient fleet, dependable operations and everyday low fares, travellers in Slovakia will enjoy more choice and better value—whether planning easy day trips between the two largest cities or connecting via Bratislava to a wider range of European destinations. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board and supporting the continued growth of Slovakia’s air transport market. I think Wizz Air will be a great success story for Slovakia, and Slovakia will be a great success story for Wizz Air.”

Jozef Raz, minister of Transport of the Slovak Republic, said: “It’s great news for travelers and also proof that there is strong international interest in Bratislava and Slovakia. I’m looking forward to the new routes, and I’m also glad that today we signed an agreement for a connection we have all been waiting for for years. Direct flights between Bratislava and Košice will offer a fast, comfortable, and safe alternative for travel between the east and west of the country. I believe this connection will attract great interest.“

Dusan Novota, Bratislava Airport CEO, said: “Together with our long-term partner Wizz Air, we are announcing the largest route expansion in our airport’s history—the most important step in our development. We are making operational preparations to handle this growth smoothly and safely, with the potential to reach 3–4 million passengers next year. We sincerely thank Wizz Air and the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic for their continued support of tourism in Slovakia and the development of Bratislava Airport.”
