BTS Achieves 69% Passenger Growth in November
Bratislava Airport recorded a remarkable 69% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers in November. A total of 163,949 passengers were handled on arrivals and departures, compared to 97,000 passengers during the same period last year.
“Nearly 164,000 passengers in November mark the highest November passenger figures in the history of Bratislava Airport. We exceeded last year’s November result by more than 67,000 passengers,“ said Dušan Novota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of M. R. Štefánik Airport.
“This exceptional growth is primarily thanks to Wizz Air, which opened its base at Bratislava Airport in mid-November, launching daily flights to destinations such as Barcelona or Košice, as well as new routes to Bucharest, Lamezia Terme, Plovdiv, Varna, and Málaga,“ explained the airport’s CEO.
Ryanair also contributed to the record results by expanding its flight offering with several new routes, while tour operators continued to operate charter flights from Bratislava to exotic destinations such as Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, and Dubai throughout November.
“Barcelona became the month’s biggest mover. Thanks to its daily frequency of direct flights from Bratislava, operated by two airlines, it ranked as the busiest destination from Bratislava Airport in November,“ added Dušan Novota. Barcelona was followed by London–Stansted, London–Luton, Rome–Ciampino, Málaga, and Dublin.
From the beginning of the year until the end of November, Bratislava Airport handled 2,212,317 passengers on arrivals and departures — 21% more than in the same period last year. The number of aircraft movements climbed to 27,046, with 1,964 arrivals and departures taking place in November alone (10% more flights than in November 2024).
Air cargo transport also continued to grow, rising by 67% since the beginning of the year to a total of 17,200 tonnes.
