Bratislava Airport Introduces 7 New Destinations

M. R. Štefánik Airport today welcomed the first passengers departing for the Norwegian capital, Oslo, with a themed cake and refreshments. The new route, operated three times a week, was launched by Wizz Air. In addition to the Oslo service, Wizz Air also launched new direct flights today to Alicante, Spain, and Athens, Greece.

Today, Wizz Air added a second aircraft to its Bratislava base. In spring 2026, two more aircraft will follow, bringing the total to four Airbus A321neo aircraft, which will enable the launch of additional new routes. In addition to the three new routes opening today, four more direct connections from Bratislava will be launched as early as tomorrow — to Basel, located at the Swiss–German–French border, Niš in Serbia, and the Italian cities of Naples and Palermo,” listed Dušan Novota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of M. R. Štefánik Airport, outlining the new connections being added at Bratislava Airport in mid-December. “We are pleased that our cooperation with Wizz Air is offering passengers a wider range of departure and arrival options to and from Bratislava, contributing both to the development of tourism and to the growth of Bratislava Airport,,“ Dušan Novota added.

“The launch of the new direct air route between Oslo and Bratislava is an important step in improving Slovakia’s accessibility for travellers from Northern Europe. Norway represents a promising market with strong interest in active holidays, nature, and authentic experiences — all of which Slovakia has to offer. We believe that the direct connection will help increase inbound tourism, deepen cooperation between the two countries, and support the development of tourism across the regions,“ said Daniela Bezáková, Head of the Slovakia Travel foreign representation for the Nordic countries, during the inaugural flight to Oslo.

“Wizz Air opened its base in Bratislava in mid-November and offers a total of 29 routes from Bratislava and 32 routes from Slovakia in 2026, including the long-awaited and immensely popular domestic route, connecting Bratislava with Kosice. This December we are launching seven of those amazing routes, from January we will start the new routes to Kutaisi and Yerevan, and we have even more to come in March. This reflects our true commitment to strengthening connectivity in Bratislava and supporting tourism in Slovakia,” said Olivia Harangozo, Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
