Wizz Air Celebrates 10 Years of Growth and Expansion at Bratislava Airport
Wizz Air, the leading airline in Slovakia, proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary of entering Bratislava Airport, marking a decade of strong growth and commitment to the country. The milestone is accompanied by a significant expansion, including the launch of 9 new routes just this month and a broader network growth throughout the year.
Over the past decade, Wizz Air has steadily strengthened its presence in Bratislava, consistently expanding its network and capacity while providing affordable travel options to Slovak passengers. Today, this long-term commitment reaches a new milestone as the airline continues to invest in the region and support the development of Bratislava Airport as a key gateway in Central Europe.
As part of its continued investment in the Slovak market, Wizz Air is increasing frequencies on six existing routes for the upcoming summer season. Notably, the domestic connection between Bratislava and Košice was boosted to up to 13 weekly frequencies in March, offering passengers greater flexibility and connectivity within the country.
“Celebrating 10 years in Bratislava is a truly special milestone for Wizz Air,” said Andras Szabo, Network Officer at Wizz Air. “It reflects not only our sustained growth, but also our deep commitment to Slovakia and to the passengers who have trusted us over the past decade. Our continued expansion, including new routes and increased frequencies, demonstrates our long-term dedication to strengthening connectivity, supporting local economies, and making travel more accessible than ever. We are proud to further invest in Bratislava and look forward to many more years of growth together.”
“The 10-year presence of Wizz Air at Bratislava Airport reflects a journey of resilience, growth and renewed expansion. From launching its first route in 2016 to today’s network of 31 destinations, supported by four based aircraft at Bratislava Airport base, Wizz Air has become a key driver of connectivity from Slovakia. The addition of 16 new routes in 2026 and increased frequencies, including the domestic connection to Košice, will bring record passenger growth to Bratislava Airport. We sincerely thank Wizz Air for its strong partnership, which is significantly strengthening both international and domestic travel and positioning Bratislava as a fast-growing gateway in the region,” said Dušan Novota, CEO of Bratislava Airport.
In 2026, Wizz Air is launching 16 new routes from Bratislava, further strengthening its network and connecting Slovakia to a wide range of destinations across Europe and beyond. These include flights to Berlin, Chișinău, Dortmund, Kutaisi, Larnaca, Mykonos, Nice, Ohrid, Podgorica, Prishtina, Rome, Tel Aviv, Tirana, Tuzla, Warsaw, Yerevan
This milestone anniversary highlights Wizz Air’s continued dedication to providing affordable travel, expanding connectivity, and supporting the growth of Bratislava Airport as a key regional hub.
