Brazil’s Viracopos International Airport (VCP), located in the Campinas metropolitan area in São Paulo state, has been named Cargo Airport of the Year at the 2026 ACW Awards in Shanghai, China, reinforcing its position as one of Latin America’s leading air cargo gateways and a strategic growth platform for airlines and logistics operators.
The award recognizes airports that demonstrate excellence in cargo handling, connectivity, operational efficiency, innovation and customer service. Viracopos won the Regional Cargo Hub category (up to one million tonnes annually), competing against major international airports from Europe, North America and the Middle East.
The recognition reflects Viracopos’ unique role within Brazil’s aviation and logistics landscape. Located in the country’s largest economic region, the airport handles approximately one-third of all Brazilian air imports and serves key industries including pharmaceuticals, technology, manufacturing and e-commerce.
