The Route Development team at Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ) has ‘invited’ two colleagues from the new (fictional) airline smartJet to the Northern Netherlands to discover for themselves what the region has to offer. In just two minutes, they step away from the route conference and into an adventure they will not quickly forget!

About Groningen Airport Eelde:

Groningen Airport Eelde is an international airport in the Netherlands, serving the northern half of the country. The airport is not slot restricted and offers affordable capacity for growth within the Dutch aviation market. In addition, the airport provides tailored incentive schemes to support airline growth in the region.

The airport primarily serves the cities of Groningen, Assen, Leeuwarden and Zwolle, with 2.1 million inhabitants living within a 60-minute drive. Within their wider 90-minute catchment area, which also includes part of North-West Germany, the population reaches 3.8 million. The catchment is highly autonomous, with the nearest alternative airports, Amsterdam Schiphol and Bremen, both located approximately two hours away.
