Southampton Airport launches route to Ibiza with Volotea

Volotea, the airline of small and mid‐sized European cities, will continue its operation from Southampton next summer with a new route connecting the city to the Balearic Island of Ibiza. Flights will be operated once a week to Ibiza (on Thursdays) from the 25th May. Flights to Majorca will continue and will be operated 4 times a week (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays) from 28th May.

Ibiza is often described as the most beautiful island of the Balearics and although it may be most famous for its nightlife, Ibiza has quaint old towns, tranquil beaches, sandy coves and pine-clad hills. If it’s activity you’re after, there are numerous opportunities for all kinds of sports and leisure facilities on hand like scuba diving, horse-riding, fishing, sailing and golf. It’s a destination for all ages.

Dave Lees, Managing Director of Southampton Airport, said: “We are delighted that Volotea have introduced a new route to Ibiza for summer 2017 which will run alongside their existing route to Majorca. Being able to offer a range of different destinations for summer sun is one of our main priorities and we hope to see many people traveling to Ibiza in 2017 as well as to Majorca with Volotea”.

Lázaro Ros, General Manager and Co-Founder of Volotea, said “After the successful launch of the Majorca route from Southampton last year, we will now be offering a second route to Ibiza in the Balearic Islands in 2017. Our passengers will be able to discover and enjoy two beautiful Mediterranean islands with Volotea. We strongly believe in the success of this route and that it will allow more and more people to travel with direct and convenient flights with Volotea”.
