56th anniversary celebrations

Onn the 11th of August 2015, Sheremetyevo International Airport celebrates 56th anniversary. On this day in 1959 passenger aeroplane Tu-104 carried out it’s flight Leningrad-Moscow and landed on Sheremetyevo aerodrome (previously main aerodrome of USSR’ air force).

For more than 50 years Sheremetyevo has met and seen the heads of the states, polar explorers, Olympic Competitors, celebrities and dozens thousands passengers every day.

In 2015 it’s begun a new stage in Sheremetyevo history. Upgrading of Northern terminal complex (NTC) entered a phase of active realization. The development of NTC will extend the capabilities of the airport, will enhance the quality of service, will become a driver of development for airlines and airport partners. The realization of large-scale and ambitious projects will allow Sheremetyevo to strengthen it’s positions among the leaders of the industry on international scene. It’s so actual because we will receive the competitors and guests of a great sport event — the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

One of the the brightest events of the day is opening of the exhibition “InstaSVO”. The exposure consists of 14 best photos of the participants of the competition that was held in official account of Sheremetyevo in Instagram. Photographers, spotters, members of fun-club and passengers of Sheremetyevo took part in this competition. Original photos reflect the life of the airport, production process, which was shot close to airplanes and from unordinary angles. The exhibition works in Terminal F (public area, second floor) till the 15th of October 2015.

Today the museum of Sheremetyevo will open it’s doors for passengers and guests of the airport. The museum will work from 10.00 to 18.00, free entrance.
