Wizz Air Strengthens Cyprus Network with Focus on Year-Round Growth

Wizz Air continues to strengthen its presence in Cyprus, recognising the island’s growing potential as a year-round destination and the opportunities for further network development from its Larnaka Airport base.

The Spanish market is gaining increasing importance in Cyprus’ route network. Wizz Air launched its highly anticipated direct service to Madrid, building on the successful introduction of its year-round Larnaka–Barcelona route last year. With two major Spanish cities now directly connected to Larnaka, this expansion marks an important step in strengthening air links between Cyprus and Spain, opening up new opportunities for inbound tourism, outbound travel and further market development.

The airline has also reintroduced the Larnaka–Athens route with a twice-daily service, adding capacity to one of Cyprus’ key European connections. At the same time, Wizz Air has further enhanced its winter operations with increased frequencies to destinations including Thessaloniki, Bucharest, Bratislava, Venice and Wroclaw, among others.

Further strengthening its international network, Wizz Air is also bringing back direct flights between Larnaka and Abu Dhabi from the start of the winter season.

With its favourable climate, diverse tourism offering and strong demand for travel throughout the year, Cyprus presents attractive opportunities for airlines to capitalise on demand across different travel segments and seasons.

Wizz Air’s continued investment in its Larnaka operations also reflects the strength of its long-standing partnership with Hermes Airports and a shared focus on enhancing connectivity, developing new markets and supporting sustainable traffic growth.

Through close collaboration with airline partners and tourism stakeholders, Hermes Airports continues to promote Cyprus’ year-round potential, strengthen its position within international airline networks and support further opportunities for route development.
